Post-Doctoral Researchers

Dr.
Ramesh Kumar
Research Interests: Bioenergy, Fermentation, Downstream purification, Membrane Separation Technology, Clean Technology, Wastewater Treatment
My research interest has been widely focusing on the membrane-based clean and green technologies for the production of liquid biofuels (viz. bioethanol and biodiesel), organic acids (viz. Gluconic acid, Succinic acid) and amino acid (Glutamic acid) using renewable resources as a feedstock. I am also focusing on the ‘Waste to Energy generation’ by using lignocellulosic biomass and waste oil for producing liquid biofuels. Besides, development of clean abatement technologies for the industrial effluents have also been a prime focus in my research area. Membrane-based fast technology on Industrial Wastewater Treatment for recycling and reusing in Circular Economy approach is also a major concern of my research.

Dr.
Shouvik Saha
Research Interests: Bioenergy, Anaerobic Fermentation, Anaerobic Digestion, Waste and Wastewater treatment, Environmental Biotechnology
My research focuses on the pretreatment, and anaerobic fermentation, and digestion of the zero-value organic waste to produce bio-hydrogen, and bio-methane as energy and the impact of microbial nexus on these processes by assessing the metabolic roles of microbial species in syntrophic communities. He is also developing microbial fermentation technologies for the improved production of liquid biofuels (e.g., butyrate, caproate) from organic waste. He has published >10 SCI(E) research articles (seven first authored) and four review articles in highly reputed international journals including Chemical Engineering Journal, Energy Conversion and Management, Bioresource Technology, Journal of Cleaner Production, Progress In Energy And Combustion Science, and Trends In Biotechnology.

Dr.
Yusuf Mohammed
Research Interests: Waste and Wastewater Treatment, Adsorption Technology, Nanotechnology, Metal-Organic Framework, Separation Processes.
My research is directed toward the development of composite materials and their utilization as an adsorbent for the abatement of inorganic and organic pollutants from water and wastewater.
I also have an in-depth knowledge on the synthesis and modification of graphene and it's derivative for the adsorptive removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from the solution.
I am currently working on the synthesis of the Metal-Organic Framework for the removal of dye material from the solution in both batch and continuous operation.

Dr.
Rahul Tanpure
Research Interests: Meta-omics, environmental microbiology, molecular biology, anaerobic digestion, bioremediation, biofuel generation.
My research area mainly focuses on addressing various environmental problems using molecular microbiology and meta-omics (e.g., metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metaproteomics) approaches. I perform metagenomic analysis using high-throughput sequencing (i.e., 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing) to find microbial community profiles. I also study metatranscriptomics and mass spectrometry-based metaproteomics to identify the microbial transcriptional activity and expressed proteins (i.e., quantitative/qualitative profiling of proteins), respectively. Data integration of omics studies can offer an in-depth sight into the functional dynamics of intricate microbial communities. Findings from the above studies can provide a sustainable way of resolving environmental problems. I am also focussing on the human gut microbiome studies using the metagenomics approach. Moreover, I am investigating the role of functional microbial diversity during anaerobic digestion of organic substrates (e.g., food waste, fats, oil). I am exploring various bioremediation systems (e.g., microalgae, plants) for the effective removal of pollutants from wastewater and contaminated soil.
